The Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation (MMF) was established in December 2015 in accordance with the vision of the artist Mrinalini Mukherjee, to carry forth the legacy of the Mukherjee family which include her parents, the critically acclaimed modernist Benode Behari Mukherjee and artist-educator Leela Mukherjee.
While the Foundation’s primary aim is to preserve and promote the legacy of this unique family through exhibitions, archiving, research initiatives, publications and films, it will fulfill its charitable purposes by extending its resources to art practitioners, students, educators, and art institutions through its various grant-making and collaborative initiatives. In the long term the Foundation looks to encourage and augment a range of programmes, practices and processes to sustain and nurture Indian art in the country and on the international stage.


Archive
The Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation Archive comprises of artwork images, installation pictures, personal photographs, as well as correspondence, texts and instruction guides belonging to Benode Behari Mukherjee, Leela Mukherjee and Mrinalini Mukherkjee. The collection is currently being digitized in collaboration with Visva-Bharati University and Asia Art Archive India, and will be available for online access soon.
Foundation
Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation is a charitable organisation providing support to a range of stakeholders in the art community, including art practitioners, scholars, students and institutions. The Foundation works towards identifying, nurturing, sustaining and growing the art ecosystem in India in equitable ways. Through various support programs, both directly facilitated by the Foundation and in collaboration with partner organisations, the Foundation's work directly benefit our stakeholders. The Foundation's work aims to build a community of practitioners who are able to experiment, research and expand their practice with adequate financial support and professional mentorship.
